Use AI to Test Your Website’s SEO – A Simple ChatGPT Trick

Quickly check the quality of your website's SEO with this nifty trick.

SEO can feel like a dark art , how do you really know if your website is communicating the right message to search engines and potential customers?

One quick and surprisingly effective way to test your website’s SEO is by using ChatGPT. Yes, the same AI you use to draft emails or brainstorm ideas can also act as a litmus test for how well-optimised your website content is.

The Simple AI SEO Test

Here’s how it works:

  1. Ask ChatGPT to summarise your business based on your website URL.
  2. Read the summary – does it accurately reflect what you do?
  3. If it’s clear, concise, and on-brand, then congratulations – your website is well-structured for SEO! If not, it might be time for a content review.

Testing This Trick With a Recently-Built Website

We put this method to the test with a website recently created for a client - Associated Blinds Ltd, a business specialising in bespoke shading solutions. First, we asked ChatGPT:

“Please give me a summary for this business based on its website: www.associatedblinds.co.uk

Here’s what it returned:

ChatGPT summary

Not bad, right? The summary is clear, includes the company’s main products and services, and even highlights key selling points like their experience, in-house manufacturing, and showroom. This suggests that Associated Blinds’ website is well-optimised for SEO and provides search engines with the right information.

Why This Works

ChatGPT, like search engines, relies on the text and structure of your website to generate responses. If AI can produce an accurate and compelling summary of your business from your site, that means:

  • Your website is structured clearly.
  • Important keywords and services are easy to find.
  • Your content is relevant and well-optimised.

If ChatGPT generates a vague or incomplete response, that’s a sign that search engines might also be struggling to understand your site.

Taking It a Step Further

You can then prompt ChatGPT to be more detailed, to really see how it analyses the website content. You could ask about location, opening hours etc. Here's a summary about the company's products and service offering:

Visualising the Business

Once we had the summary, we asked ChatGPT to generate an image representing the business based on the website’s information. Here’s what it came up with:

ChatGPT image

The image generation is much more experimental, but it is interesting to get a visual representation of the content. If the image is way-off what you'd want you customers to imagine your premises, production, or products might look like, it might be time to revisit your website content.

What If the Summary Is Off?

If your AI-generated summary doesn’t quite hit the mark, here’s what you can do:

  • Check Your Website Copy – Ensure that your homepage and key pages clearly state what you do, who you serve, and your unique selling points.
  • Optimise Metadata – Page titles and meta descriptions should be descriptive and contain relevant keywords.
  • Use Clear Headers & Structure – Properly formatted headings (H1, H2, etc.) help search engines and AI understand your content better.
  • Add Internal Links – Linking related content helps AI (and users) navigate your site more effectively.

Final Thoughts

This simple ChatGPT trick can help you quickly gauge your website’s SEO effectiveness. If AI can summarise your business accurately, that’s a strong sign your content is working. If not, it might be time to tweak your site’s copy and structure to better communicate your message to both AI and real customers.
